Andrew Wood

Neither of us can remember the details of our scrap in the middle of a Leeds arcade on account of the tequila, but our girlfriends had to split us up and mine dumped me soon afterwards. It must have been a tense time at Itchy Media, a publisher we ran 20 years ago. Woody was in the office before me – which must have been a first – and it wasn’t mentioned, business as usual.

The whole history of Itchy is a bit hazy. We remembered bits and pieces out of order and with slightly different recollections. And that’s what this show is: A badly plotted soundtrack of our business, put together in the lobby outside of the studio.

Andrew Wood is the ‘boss’ of Campus Industries, a student marketing business that he started after Itchy was bought by several twits in a row and ran into the ground. I say ‘boss’ because he couldn’t tell me an official job title and that’s pretty much how he rolls. He’s just the boss – as he was then – with a knack for making things happen and keeping them afloat. Alway under his own steam, never far from a pickle, tends to come up smelling of roses.

LCD Soundsystem, White Stripes and Joy Orbison because he’s having a break from The Pixies.
