John Harrington

I didn't realise quite what a pickle being a trade journalist can be. Chatting with PR Week UK Editor John Harrington was an eye-opener: Being an expert without necessarily being a practitioner; juggling telling it like it is with us lot, ready to march to Haymarket HQ with our pitchforks. I'm hamming it up, but there's drama in his perspective and an openness that I think you'll appreciate.

He's got more musical fire power than I'd assumed. I should have guessed when he pulled out the amazing post punky I Melt With You by Modern English. He almost didn't mention that he used to be in a band. I wasn't expected it to be a bona fide label-signed, Reading Festival-playing indie outfit. Here's a video for Stagecoach's Work! Work! Work! with a youthful bassist you may recognise.

Enjoy the sound of REM, Kate Nash, Pinegrove and a magical theme tune from 90s Amiga game, Monkey Island.
